97 selected to pin on captains’ bars

Of 101 first lieutenants considered for promotion in the latest round of captain selections, 97 junior officers will get to pin on captain’s bars, the Air Force Personnel Center announced May 2. The officers were the last group of potential captains to become eligible in 2007, a group the Air Force called “CYO7D.”

The selected officers come from the chaplain judge advocate, nursing, medical service and biomedical sciences career fields.

Here is the in-the-zone promotion information by career field:

* Chaplain — four selected from four considered for a 100 percent select rate.

* Judge advocate — 21 selected from 21 considered for a 100 percent select rate.

* Nurse Corps — 42 selected from 43 considered for a 97.7 percent select rate.

* Medical Service Corps — 16 selected from 16 considered for a 100 percent select rate.

* Biomedical Sciences Corps — 14 selected from 14 considered for a 100 percent select rate.

The officers will put on their new rank once they reach two years of service as first lieutenants.

The board also considered three first lieutenants previously passed over and didn’t select any of the three. Those selected:
