Is it ‘beer-thirty’ yet?

“Time to turn on the beer light.”

Hear that at your squadron lately?

Each Friday, beer lights across the service get lit around 3:30 p.m. signifying the start of “beer thirty” when airmen sit around bottles of suds — whether it’s a Bud or an A&W root beer — and talk about the week that was or what’s on tap for the weekend.

We’d like to hear about your unit’s beer light — whether it’s an extravagant neon bar light hung over the squadron bar, or just a special 60-watt General Electric bulb.

Please tell us about your beer light — send us pictures, too.

And tell us all about the customs and traditions that come with the happy hour your beer light launches.

We look forward to hearing from you.
