Pentagon names new commissaries chief

Philip Sakowitz has been named new director of the Defense Commissary Agency, according to a memorandum signed Monday by David S.C. Chu, under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness.
Sakowitz’s most recent position was the executive director of the Army Installation Management Command, managing base facilities, programs, services and infrastructure sustainment for about 109 Army installations worldwide.
Richard Page, chief operating officer of the commissary agency, has served as acting director since October 2007, when former director Patrick Nixon retired.
