Board selects 478 Reserve O-3s for promotion

About 500 Reserve captains in the Air Force and medical science fields can look forward to pinning on a major’s oak leaf in fiscal 2009.

A selection board held Feb. 11-15 picked 478 captains for promotion out of 1,684 considered. Promotion dates will be determined by each officer’s time in grade.

Selection rates for each field, according to a press release from the Air Reserve Personnel Center:

* 211 Line officers were selected from 279 considered for a 76 percent selection rate.

* Three Dental Corps officers were selected from six considered for a 50 percent selection rate.

* 11 Medical Corps officers were selected from 13 considered for an 85 percent selection rate.

* 51 Nurse Corps officers were selected from 63 considered for an 81 percent selection rate.

* 14 Medical Service Corps officers were selected from 15 considered for a 93 percent selection rate.

* 11 Biological Sciences Corps officers were selected from 16 considered for a 69 percent selection rate.

* Three Dental Corps officers were selected from three considered for a 100 percent selection rate.

* Two Medical Corps officers were selected from nine considered for a 22 percent selection rate.

* Nine Nurse Corps officers were selected from 17 considered for a 53 percent selection rate.

* No Medical Service Corps officers were selected from two considered.

* Two Biological Sciences Corps officers were selected from eight considered for a 25 percent selection rate.
