Twenty-nine nominated for brigadier general

Twenty-nine Air Force colonels are in line for promotion to brigadier general.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates nominated the following officers March 31; Congress must approve the promotions before the airmen can take their new ranks.

* Col. William J. Bender, serving as the commander, 86th Airlift Wing and Kaiserslautern Military Community commander, Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

* Col. Bryan J. Benson, serving as the vice commander, 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

* Col. Christopher C. Bogdan, serving as the senior military assistant, deputy undersecretary of defense (acquisition and technology), Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

* Col. Darryl W. Burke, serving as the senior military assistant to the secretary of the Air Force, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon.

* Col. Joseph T. Callahan III, serving as the deputy director, air and space operations, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

* Col. Michael J. Carey, serving as the director, combat and information operations, Global Operations Directorate, Headquarters U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

* Col. John B. Cooper, serving as the director, logistics, Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Fla.

* Col. Samuel D. Cox, serving as the director, Air Force general officer management, deputy chief of staff, manpower, personnel and services, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon.

* Col. Teresa A. H. Djuric, serving as the commander, 50th Space Wing, Air Force Space Command, Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.

* Col. Carlton D. Everhart, serving as the inspector general, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

* Col. Terrence A. Feehan, serving as the commander, Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.

* Col. Samuel A. R. Greaves, serving as the commander, Launch and Range Systems Wing, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif.

* Col. Russell J. Handy, serving as the commander, 57th Wing, ACC, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

* Col. Scott M. Hanson, serving as the deputy director, operations and plans, Headquarters U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base.

* Col. Veralinn Jamieson, serving as the director, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance transformation, deputy chief of staff, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, Headquarters Air Force.

* Col. Jeffrey G. Lofgren, serving as the director, Analytical Project Office, Joint Advanced Warfighting Program, Institute for Defense Analyses, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Alexandria, Va.

* Col. Earl D. Matthews, serving as the commander, 435th Air Base Wing, USAFE, Ramstein.

* Col. Kurt F. Neubauer, serving as the commander, 11th Wing, Air Force District of Washington, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

* Col. Robert C. Nolan II, serving as the assistant deputy director, global operations, J-3, Joint Staff, Pentagon.

* Col. Craig S. Olson, serving as the vice commander, Aeronautical Systems Center, AFMC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

* Col. John R. Ranck Jr., serving as the chief, Program Integration Division, deputy chief of staff, strategic plans and programs, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon.

* Col. Darryl L. Roberson, serving as the commander, 325th Fighter Wing, AETC, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.

* Col. Jeffry F. Smith, serving as the deputy director, operational planning, policy and strategy, deputy chief of staff, operations, plans and requirements, Pentagon.

* Col. John F. Thompson, serving as the chief of staff, Headquarters AFMC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

* Col. Gregory J. Touhill, serving as the commander, 81st Training Wing, AETC, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.

* Col. Thomas J. Trask, serving as the commandant, Squadron Officer College, Air University, AETC, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

* Col. Joseph S. Ward Jr., serving as the comptroller, Headquarters U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

* Col. Scott D. West, serving as the commander, 613th Air and Space Operations Center, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
