Pope airman killed in Afghanistan

NORFOLK, Va. — The Defense Department announced Sunday that an airman from Virginia has died in Afghanistan.
Tech Sgt. William Jefferson Jr. of Norfolk died Saturday near Sperwan Ghar, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
The 34-year-old was assigned to the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.
