The toddler son of an Air Force couple died because of an accident involving at golf cart at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., according to an investigation report issued Wednesday by Air Education and Training Command.
The Sept. 19 death took place at Tyndall’s Pelican Point Golf Course.
According to the report, the child’s parents, Senior Airman Michael P. Davis and Kathryn G. Davis, took their 2-year-old son, Devon Davis, to the golf course where Michael worked off-duty maintaining golf carts.
While driving a cart from one part of the course’s storage yard to another, Michael put the cart into reverse gear unaware that his son had wandered behind the cart, the report said. The child died from his injuries.
The Air Force ground investigation board concluded the official cause of death was “workplace complacency.”
