F-22 reaches full operational capability
Posted : Thursday Dec 13, 2007 5:44:29 EST
The F-22 Raptor has reached full operational capability, Air Combat Command announced Wednesday.
The milestone was reached with the active-duty 1st Fighter Wing and the Virginia Air National Guard’s 192nd Fighter Wing, both at Langley Air Force Base, Va.
The designation means the Raptor has fulfilled all performance and operational requirements and that the entire program — including the aircraft, pilots and maintenance crews — is ready for all operations, including war deployments, according to an ACC press release.
“After years of collaborative effort, a key milestone for the F-22A has been reached,” Gen. John D.W. Corley, ACC commander, said in a statement. “The integrated team at Langley [possesses] sufficient Raptors, equipment and trained airmen to provide air dominance for the joint force for many years to come.”
There are 40 F-22s assigned to Langley, according to the ACC press release.
