Non-combat-related death on Qatar base

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — A U.S. Air Force airman died of a non-combat-related injury Monday in the Persian Gulf region, the Air Force reported, without releasing details on the cause of death.
The airman was assigned to the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, the Air Force said in a statement. The 379th is based at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, where the death occurred.
The airman’s name was withheld pending notification of family.
The 379th AEW is composed of 8,000 airmen from the National Guard, Reserve, active duty and other coalition countries supporting more than 100 aircraft.
The Air Force’s main air command center for operations over Iraq and Afghanistan is based at Al Udeid.
