An Air Force reservist from Georgia has been identified as the airman who died Monday in the Persian Gulf region.
Lt. Col. Glade L. Felix, 52, a physical therapist and traditional reservist with the 622nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., is thought to have died from natural causes, said his son, Army Capt. Chris Felix. His death is being investigated, according to the Defense Department.
At the time of his death, Felix was deployed to Udeid Air Base in Qatar, according to the Defense Department.
Felix, who lived in southern Georgia town of Lake Park, stayed in the Air Force because of the friendships and mission.
“He enjoyed the camaraderie,” his son explained.
Capt. Felix said his father’s service influenced him to join the Army. When he got word of his father’s death, the captain was preparing for his second deployment to Iraq.
