Lichte tapped for Air Mobility Command head
Posted : Saturday Jun 30, 2007 8:30:00 EDT
The new boss of Air Mobility Command will be Lt. Gen. Arthur J. Lichte if the Senate approves his nomination and promotion to four-star general.
Lichte, a career mobility pilot, now serves as assistant Air Force vice chief of staff in the Pentagon. At AMC, Lichte is replacing Gen. Duncan McNabb, who is moving to the Pentagon to become vice chief of staff of the Air Force.
Lichte received his commissioned in 1971 after graduating from Manhattan College in New York City. Much of the general’s early career was spent flying tankers. In staff positions, Lichte was executive officer to AMC commander Gen. Ronald Fogelman in 1994 and vice commander of U.S. Air Force Europe for 2½ years starting in December 2002. He also oversaw presidential airlift as commander of the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., for 1997 and 1998.
