KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — The Oregon Air National Guard fleet at Kingsley Field is getting two new F-15 fighter jets to replace older models.
The new jets are the beginning of an increase in jets and personnel at the training base, base commander Col. Tom Schiess said.
He said that by the end of June, the base will have 10 new planes. Of those, six will replace current jets. The base plans to hire 50 new employees to service the additional jets and instruct student pilots.
The base currently has 21 F-15s, mostly older B models. The older jets will go to a military boneyard in Arizona.
