NBC stars raise the roof in honor of new season

By William Keck - USA Today

An abstaining Stamos?

John Stamos was approached by his ER co-star Linda Cardellini (recently transformed into a brunette), who asked if he wanted a drink. Stamos balked, humorously referencing his recent pill-induced far-out interviews on foreign TV. “Australiaaa!” he chirped, before clarifying, “I’m not a drinker. Ask [Cardellini].”

“Not a drinker,” Cardellini echoed.

“You know what happened,” Stamos went on to explain. “I took an Ambien too late, and I was a babbling idiot. The bottom line is, I wasn’t driving a car. It was an isolated incident, and it wasn’t my regular behavior.”

Stamos, who traveled in Greece this summer with former ‘Full House” co-star Bob Saget, then gulped when he caught a glimpse of “America’s Got Talent” judge David Hasselhoff in the distance. Stamos recently made a distinction between his behavior and Hasselhoff’s drunken antics that were caught on video by his daughter.

“I was kind of misquoted,” Stamos said. “I love David and am proud of his recovery. [But] I wasn’t in the same situation as him.”

So you think you can sing?

“Singing Bee” host Joey Fatone mediated a singing contest between “Friday Night Lights” hunk Scott Porter and Zachary Levi, star of the new comedic thriller “Chuck.” Levi went on to win the contest, announcing to the entire party, “I’m filthy rich with [NBC] peacock money.”

Davis’ super-hot girlfriend

Sarah Lancaster, who plays Levi’s sister in Chuck, brought along her current beau and former “What About Brian” love interest, Matt Davis. Asked what he likes best about his girlfriend’s show, Davis took a long pause, inspiring Lancaster to wave her arms and shout out, “Hello?”

Davis then answered: “My girlfriend is so super hot, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her.”

A baby comes to ‘Lights’

“Friday Night Lights” star Connie Britton, sipping from a Champagne flute, revealed that her character gives birth early in Season 2, which begins shooting Thursday in Austin. She’s insisting that her character keep wearing loose-fitting clothes to accurately portray extra post-pregnancy pounds. “I’m going to wear a bigger bra and stuff it,” she said. Britton was less forthcoming about her TV baby’s sex. “You’re not going to get that out of me,” she joked. “How much champagne do you think I’ve had?”

‘Heroes’ sandwiches?

In between interviews, “Heroes” cheerleader Hayden Panettiere was encouraged to eat — “force-fed,” she said, by her two TV “dads,” Adrian Pasdar and Jack Coleman. “They’ve been, like, ‘Eat, eat!’ “
