Air Force Times Letter: Decals good for bikers
Posted : Monday Feb 19, 2007 17:58:23 EST
I love the idea of stickers no longer being required on car windows to gain entry to our air bases [“Stickers coming off,” Feb. 5, Frontlines]. Hill Air Force Base, Utah, quit issuing them in July 2006 — seven months prior to Robins Air Force Base, Ga. The “sticky” part of the policy is how to handle motorcycles.
Regulations still require motorcyclists to prove attendance at a safety course. In the past, bikers showed proof of the course and were issued a decal. Now, without the decal and the apparent prohibition of a code letter on the face of the common access card, must motorcyclists show their ID card and another document proving prior successful attendance of a safety course each time they enter base gates?
