General information

USA4MilitaryFamilies.org is the online home for a continuing Defense Department effort to engage and educate state policy makers, business leaders, not-for-profit organizations and other leaders about the needs of the military community.

DoD is working with the states to remove barriers and improve the quality of life for military members and their families. Examples of issues with priority include in-state college tuition, payday lending, military children in transition, spouse employment, and issues affecting the Guard and Reserve such as child care.

America Supports Youlinking deployed troops and their families to private organizations offering support ranging from exchange gift certificates for deployed troops to phone cards, to letters and packages, to homes for wounded troops.

U.S. Armed Forces Legal Assistance is an online locator for military legal assistance offices of all branches of service. You can search for all branches of service, by zip code or state.

USO centers

The United Service Organizations group operates more than 120 centers worldwide, offering hospitality in commercial and military airports, on military bases and at Navy fleet centers.

Veterans’ organizations

Local chapters of veterans' organizations such as The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars often provide monetary assistance and other support to family members of deployed active-duty, Guard and Reserve members.
