Find the perfect job. We’ll help!
Some veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have a harder time finding work than their non-military counterparts, statistics show.
But few segments of the population have access to the considerable career support that veterans do.
The government, nonprofit groups, recruitment companies and even civilians such as Mark Baird and wife Tori are stepping in to help.
Mark Baird couldn’t enlist in the Marine Corps during Vietnam for health reasons, but the way some civilians treated returning service members still made a big impact on him.
“Some of those guys were my dear friends, and I knew them to be kind, good people,” Baird said.
When U.S. troops started fighting wars in the Middle East in 2001, the Bairds decided that this time, they could make a difference. They created HirePatriots.com, a job board where military-friendly employers post open positions, including part-time and weekend work.
So you don’t have to become another negative statistic. Take advantage of the services the Bairds and others have created for you.
Just be careful to protect your personal information and your references’ personal information when posting résumés online.
