More jobs in fitness
If you want to become a personal trainer, but you don’t like the idea of managing a business, then personal training is a good springboard for other fitness careers, too, said Fabio Comana, exercise physiologist and spokesperson for the American Council on Exercise. Additional training may be necessary apply to qualify for one of the following growing jobs:
Strength and conditioning coach: These individuals work with athletic teams at the high school, college or professional level to develop safe, effective training programs.
Fitness manufacturing and sales: Large fitness companies often hire fitness enthusiasts who work out on the equipment and can tell customers about it from personal experience.
Wellness coaches. Individuals, private companies and health insurers hire these coaches to create a culture of good health. The emphasis is often on behaviors such as stress management and less on diet and exercise patterns.
Medical health/fitness instructor: Those who work in the field of medical fitness help people who are being treated for diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles behaviors.
