Online college’s faculty intact with sale
Touro University International’s faculty and staff remain intact with today’s announcement of its sale to Summit Partners, a private equity firm that invests in growing companies.
And tuition isn’t rising either, said Yoram Neumann, president and CEO of the newly renamed TUI University. Neumann also led the school under the nonprofit Touro College. The sale represents a change to for-profit status for the online college.
About 80 percent of TUI University’s 7,500 students are members of the U.S. military. The school’s price for military students is formulated so that service members can earn 28 credits per year for about what the Defense Department pays under its tuition assistance program — a maximum of $4,500 per fiscal year.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredits the university.
