COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — A pedestrian who was killed when he tried to cross Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs has been identified as a 23-year-old Fort Carson soldier.

The Gazette reports Spc. Timothy Brett Alexander, of Hinesville, Georgia, entered the Army in February 2011 and arrived at Fort Carson in July 2013. The cavalry scout in the 3rd Brigade Combat Team served one tour in Afghanistan in 2012.

Police say Alexander was trying to cross the Interstate early Saturday morning when he was hit by two vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
