Airman convicted of videotaping woman in bathroom

A former technical sergeant was convicted Tuesday of one charge of videotaping a civilian woman while she was unclothed in a bathroom.

But Jose Vuittonet Jr., who is assigned to the 306th Flying Training Group, was found not guilty of two other charges — showing a female airman the videotape and engaging her in a conversation of a sexual nature, and broadcasting the video to the female airman.

Vuittonet, in a court-martial at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, was demoted to senior airman and will be confined for four months. After his confinement, he will serve hard labor without confinement for three more months.

According to the charge sheet, Vuittonet videotaped the civilian woman in July 2011 while she was unclothed in an off-base residential bathroom, without her consent and while she had a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Prosecutors also said Vuittonet’s alleged sexual harassment of the female airman, who is not a cadet, happened in either January or February 2012.

The academy said that Vuittonet is not assigned to the Cadet Wing and has no dealings with cadets in the course of his military duties.
