Tell us: How would you improve your boots?

Modifications to steel-toe boots are in the works, but are those changes enough?

Footwear has long been an issue of contention for snipes and topsiders, Seabees and fleet sailors — especially those who stand watch for hours in clunky boondockers.

Other services offer more options. Soldiers, for example, can wear boots from Danner or Blackhawk, Wellco or Bellville — even Nike and New Balance, boots that are light and more flexible.

Do you find your current boots — whether smooth-sided, rough-sided or flight-deck boots — comfortable? Should the Navy allow you to pick which of these you should wear?

The dungarees are long gone. Does the Navy even need boondockers anymore?

Do you wish you had other options, like lower-cut 6-inch boots or ones with a composite toe, lighter than a steel toe while still safe? What other options would you like?

Do you feel that the Navy should expand the rules so you can wear boots with any working or service uniform?

And what other changes would you like to see to your uniforms or wear rules?

Navy Times wants to hear what you think. Send your feedback on boots and uniforms to staff writer Lance M. Bacon. And be specific. Your comments may be featured in an upcoming article.
