Date set for release of SFC promotion list

Results of the Regular Army sergeants first class promotion board that met Feb. 4-March 7 will be released April 10.

In addition to considering nearly 30,000 staff sergeant for promotion, this board also screened several thousand staff sergeants for possible involuntary separation or early retirement under the Qualitative Service Program, a drawdown tool for culling the ranks of over-strength military occupational specialties.

The basic zone of eligibility for promotion consideration included staff sergeants with dates of rank of Feb. 5, 20011 and earlier. Under rules implemented in January, these soldiers also had to have credit for completion of Structured Self-Development 3, and the Advanced Leaders Course.

The zone of eligibility for the QSP screening included staff sergeants with dates of rank of Feb. 3, 2010, and earlier, in all but 11 of the Army’s nearly 190 enlisted military occupational specialties.

Promotions off the new sergeant first class list can begin as soon as scheduled by the Army. April 1 promotions will reduce the 2013 E-7 list to only 136 names.
