Joni Ernst, an officer in the Iowa Army National Guard who is running for Senate, has received national attention after running an unconventional campaign commercial touting her farmhand experience.

“I’m Joni Ernst, I grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm,” she says in the 30-second commercial. “So when I get to Washington, I’ll know how to cut pork.”

Ernst, a lieutenant colonel, is the commander of the 185th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, according to the Iowa Army National Guard. In 2003, her unit was tasked with running convoys from Kuwait into Iraq, according her biography on her campaign’s website.

Her castration commercial has garnered such widespread attention that “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon joked on Monday, “I don’t know what she’s running for, but just give her the job.”

Several people wrote messages praising the commercial on the Facebook page for Ernst’s campaign.

“I don't live in Iowa but I saw your ‘Castration’ ad & LOVED IT!!!” one person wrote. “I donated $5.00 just because it was the BEST ad I've seen. Sharpen your knife cause you've got a lot of Cuttin to Do!!! Good Luck & God Bless!!!”
