Air Force Staff Sgt. Sean Oliver has been charged with murder and related offenses in connection with the death of a sailor in Germany, according to the 86th Airlift Wing at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Dmitry Chepusov, 31, was declared dead by German medical authorities on Dec. 14 after being found unresponsive in a vehicle in Kaiserslautern, Germany, according to U.S. European Command.

Oliver, 34, is accused of strangling Chepusov, 86th Airlift Wing spokeswoman Sandra Archer said Friday in an email to Air Force Times. Both Oliver and Chepusov worked for American Forces Network.

On March 10, Oliver was charged with murder, obstruction of justice and making false statements about Chepusov's death, Archer said. Oliver will have an Article 32 hearing, which will decide if his case should proceed to a court-martial.

Stars and Stripes first reported on Dec. 19 that a German judge had charged an unnamed U.S. service member with manslaughter in connection with Chepusovís death. Air Force officials refused to identify Oliver until he had been charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
