An airman stationed at Dover Air Force Base, Del., died Tuesday in a crash on I-95 in Philadelphia.

Senior Airman Victor Quach was killed in an accident that happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday near Girard Avenue in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, base officials said in a statement released Wednesday. He was 26.

According to a news release from the Pennsylvania State Police, officers arrived at the scene to find Quach already being treated by emergency medical personnel. He was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Quach was assigned to the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron as a fuel and water maintenance technician.

Quach began active duty on Aug. 24, 2010.

“It is with deep sadness that we confirm the death of Senior Airman Quach,” said Col. Randy Huiss, 436th Airlift Wing vice commander, in the release. “The loss of one of our airmen is a loss for all of us, and our thoughts and condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.”

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
