PORTLAND, ORE. — A lieutenant colonel in the Washington Army National Guard who retired on Monday has been arrested on a warrant alleging multiple sex abuse offenses, the Clark County sheriff’s office said late Wednesday.
Kenneth S. Garrison, a former Washington State Patrol lieutenant, was arrested Wednesday at the Rodeway Inn and Suites in northeast Portland, Ore., Sgt. Kevin Allais said.
The victim is a relative of Garrison’s, the sergeant said.
The 51-year-old Garrison, of Vancouver, resigned from his lieutenant’s position last month.
A Portland-area SWAT team and suburban Gresham police assisted Clark County officers in the arrest, Allais said. “We wanted to make sure it was done in a safe manner, because of the charges and the fact he had resigned from the State Patrol and from the National Guard,” the sergeant said. “We were worried for him.”
Garrison was expected to appear Thursday in Multnomah County Circuit Court in Portland. It was not immediately known whether he was represented by a lawyer.
The sergeant said the investigation is continuing.
