5 flag officer assignments announced

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert announced five flag officer assignments Thursday:

2-star assignment

Rear Adm. Craig Faller will be chief of legislative affairs, Washington, D.C. Faller is serving as director of operations, J3, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

1-star assignments

Rear Adm. Christopher W. Grady will be commander, Carrier Strike Group 1, San Diego. Grady is serving as deputy chief of staff for operations, training and readiness, N3/N7, Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

■ Rear Adm. Kenneth Iverson will be director of medical education and training, M7, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington. Iverson is serving as special assistant to the surgeon general, Washington.

Rear Adm. DeWolfe Miller will be as commander, Carrier Strike Group 2, Norfolk, Va. Miller is serving as director, ISR capabilities, N2/N6F2, office of the chief of naval operations, Washington.

Rear Adm. Brad Williamson will be assigned as commander, Standing Naval Maritime Group 2, Naples, Italy. Williamson is serving as chief of staff, Naval Striking and Support Forces, NATO, Lisbon, Portugal.
