GULFPORT, Miss. A second Navy employee has been sentenced to prison and ordered to help repay thousands of dollars he and others received in a travel voucher scheme to defraud the Defense Department.
The Sun Herald reports 24-yeaer-old Juan Saldivar was sentenced to three years and three months in prison Tuesday and ordered to help make restitution of $139,671.29.
U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden sentenced Saldivar on a guilty plea to a conspiracy charge. The judge allowed him to remain free on bond until he is told where to report for prison.
Saldivar received the same prison term as Fred James Wheat Porterfield, of Biloxi. Porterfield was sentenced in July following a probe by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service that has resulted in related indictments.
