ABILENE, TEXAS — A military judge sentenced a Dyess Air Force Base airman to three years in prison and a dishonorable discharge after finding him guilty of adultery and endangering a child who later died.

The Abilene Reporter-News reported Friday that the judge, Air Force Col. Donald Eller, also found Airman Christopher Perez not guilty of dereliction of duty. Perez had elected to forgo a jury trial.

Perez previously lived with Tiffany Klapheke (klah-PEEK’), wife of Airman Thomas Klapheke. She has said her husband’s deployment overseas made her too stressed to care for their three children. Her 22-month-old daughter died of malnutrition and dehydration in August 2012. She is scheduled for trial in January in Abilene.

Upon his return, Thomas Klapheke filed for divorce.
