ATLANTA — Authorities say a recently discharged Army soldier from Sandy Springs was found dead inside his crashed car.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports state troopers investigating a wreck found 31-year-old Randal Andrew Ackerman around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Ackerman had last been seen leaving a Buckhead bar around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wrights said troopers found a vehicle that had left the road, traveled down an embankment and turned over. Wright said the exact day and time of the crash hadn’t been determined.

Ackerman had been honorably discharged from the Army after a tour in Afghanistan.
