A 21-year-old Fayetteville, N.C. woman has pleaded guilty in the drunken driving death of a Fort Bragg soldier last year, according to federal prosecutors.

Sarah Ashley Rogers pleaded guilty in Raleigh federal court to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Pfc. Richard Bradley Powell, 20, of Mobile, Ala. He was assigned to the 101st Chemical Company, 82nd Sustainment Brigade.

On Dec. 8, 2012, Rogers struck and killed Powell on the post at 1:40 a.m., then left the scene, according to prosecutors. At the time, she was driving with a blood alcohol concentration that exceeded the legal limit of .08.

Powell was walking along Bragg Boulevard at the time and had only recently arrived on Fort Bragg.

Army investigators questioned Rogers and identified her as a person of interest after she was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint operated by post law enforcement, according to published reports.
