Margaret 'Maggie' Sarah Kloske (James City County Police)
A Fort Bragg, N.C., soldier was arrested in Virginia on Tuesday morning after she allegedly attacked her husband and his girlfriend, according to police in James City County, Va.
Pfc. Margaret “Maggie” Sarah Kloske, 24, of the 82nd Airborne Division, allegedly drove from Fort Bragg to her husband’s home in Williamsburg, Va., and later told police her intent was to kill herself in front of her husband and his girlfriend.
“The couple had only been married a couple months or so and she became aware of this relationship,” Maj. Stephen A. Rubino, of James City County Police Department, told Army Times.
Armed with a .45-caliber revolver, Kloske allegedly entered the home through a bedroom window and went to her husband’s bedroom door, which was locked. Kloske allegedly began yelling and banging on the door before firing a shot through it.
The husband, Alfredo Alfredo Alvarado Jr., 23, opened the door, struggled with his wife and knocked the gun out of her hand, according to a news release.
Kloske allegedly turned to her husband’s 19-year-old girlfriend, punching her repeatedly in the head before the girlfriend managed to flee the apartment.
Police arrived and arrested Kloske. No one was injured.
“In this situation with a firearm, we could have had a murder-suicide, a murder or the accidental discharge of a firearm into another apartment,” Rubino said.
Police charged Kloske with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony, two counts of attempted malicious wounding, assault and battery, reckless handling of a firearm, and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling.
Alvarado, a student at the College of William and Mary, was arrested on two outstanding warrants for credit card theft and petty larceny charges. He is accused of stealing a credit card and some cash from a vehicle on Aug. 22.
