MIAMI — Prosecutors say toxicology tests show a man accused of killing four tourists in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 had cocaine and marijuana in his system.

Willie Dumel is in jail awaiting trial on four counts of manslaughter and other felonies in the April 3 crash. The Miami Herald reports prosecutors released the toxicology report this week.

Dumel’s defense attorney Andrew Rier says the report only shows that he had ingested drugs in the days before the crash. He told the newspaper there’s no way to know if the drugs influenced his ability to drive.

Officials say Dumel led police on a chase before going up an interstate exit ramp and slamming into a rented SUV, killing four people including a U.S. Navy petty officer.
