More than 500 health services officers of the National Guard and Army Reserve have been recommended for promotion to major by a selection board that met last fall.
The competitive categories for the annual Army Medical Department majors board included officers of the Army Reserve component of the Active Guard and Reserve, and the non-AGR components of the Army Reserve and Army National Guard. Career branch categories included the Nurse Corps, Medical Corps, Dental Corps, Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps and Veterinary Corps.
The lists do not require Senate confirmation, and promotions can begin as soon as scheduled by the Army Reserve and National Guard. Army Reserve AGR officers have been assigned sequence numbers and will be promoted monthly under orders to be issued by the Human Resources Command. Field commands will schedule promotions for other officers.
The primary zones of consideration for the board that met in late November and early December included AMEDD captains with dates of rank of Sept. 1, 2006 through Aug. 31, 2007. A below-zone category for the Army Reserve included captains with dates of rank of Sept. 1, 2007 through Aug. 30, 2008.
Promoting the best: Tech sgts. may have to impress a board to advance
