Police on Saturday arrested a Robins Air Force Base, Ga., senior airman in the Aug. 29 shooting death of a woman and her unborn child.
Senior Airman Charlie Amos Wilson III, 26, faces one count of murder and one count of feticide, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation news release.
The victim, 30-year-old Tameda Ferguson, was found shot to death at her home in Dawson, Ga., about 100 miles south of Robins. She was 8½ months pregnant.
Wilson and Ferguson knew each other, the news release said.
Authorities in Tift County, Ga., arrested Wilson without incident Saturday after seeing his car in the area. Tift is about an hour southeast of where the victim lived. Wilson was being held at the county jail.
The senior airman is assigned to the 461st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, where he works as a support team member, according to Robins. Wilson joined the Air Force in April 2006 and has been stationed at Robins since October of that year.
Air Force officials are cooperating with civilian authorities in the investigation, according to a news release from Robins.
