The body of Staff Sgt. Todd J. “T.J.” Lobraico Jr., who was killed in Afghanistan, is expected to arrive at Dover Air Force Base, Del., on Saturday, according to Air Force Mortuary Affairs.
Lobraico, 22, of New Fairfield, Conn., died Sept. 5 after his unit was attacked with small arms fire near Bagram Airfield, the Defense Department said late Friday in a news release.
Lobraico was assigned to to the 105th Security Forces Squadron at Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y., the release said.
The Associated Press reported that Lobraico, a 2008 graduate of New Fairfield High School, deployed to Afghanistan at the end of June. It was his second deployment overseas, according to the AP.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has ordered flags to fly at half-staff in Lobraico’s honor, the report said.
The Stamford Patch reported Friday that Lobraico is the son of Todd Lobraico, a police officer in Stamford, Conn. The website also has a picture of the younger Lobraico from his Facebook page that shows him with his father. Both men are in Air Force uniform; the father’s uniform shows the rank of master sergeant.
A woman who answered the phone at Todd Lobracio’s home declined to comment.
