Members of the American Military Spouses Choir finds out tonight if they were able to overcome the judges’ less-than-rave reviews of their performance last night and advance to the finals of the “America’s Got Talent” competition.

Six of the 12 acts in last night’s semi-final performances will advance. The voting results will be revealed on the NBC show tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern time. Among the other 12 competing acts were country singers, an acrobatic team, magicians, and an 11-year-old singer.

The judges used words like “pleasant” to describe the choir’s performance, but the words of three of the four judges left doubts about whether they think the choir was among the best acts last night.

Judge Howard Stern referred to their rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” as more suited for a USO performance than for this competition.

The judges also got into a brief but lively discussion about the concept of judging the 38-member choir of active-duty spouses based on who they are married to, rather than the quality of their performance.
