CLARKSVILLE, TENN. — Two young men will have a jury trial in September on allegations they robbed a Fort Campbell soldier and shot him in April 2012.

Giovanne Treymane Johnson, 19, and Rakeem Rashan Jones, 18, are both charged with first-degree murder, felony murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the shooting death of Spc. Taylor Hotzoglou.

Hotzoglou, 22, was shot multiple times on April 28 after giving two teenagers a ride. Hotzoglou was found by a passerby dead in his car on the shoulder of Victory.

Witnesses at a preliminary hearing said Jones and Johnson robbed Hotzoglou during the ride. Jones was named as the alleged gunman.

A motions hearing was held on Thursday.

Johnson’s attorney, Chris Clark and Jones’ attorney, Chase Smith, filed motions Thursday afternoon in Judge John H. Gasaway’s court.

Smith filed motion to exclude certain information about Jones such as his street name, affiliations and any alleged criminal activity. Gasaway granted those motions. Other motions involving potential witnesses can be brought up at a later time.

The state is represented by Robert Nash, assistant district attorney.

The trial will begin on Monday, Sept. 16 at 8:30 a.m. in Judge John H. Gasaway’s court.
