Commissary agency tweaks curbside pickup test for online orders

Commissary officials have made some changes in their tests of the new curbside grocery pickup program.

Testing at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., for the program — called Click2Go — starts Sept. 25, delayed by one day.

They’ve delayed the start of the program at Travis Air Force Base, Calif., until Oct. 23. It was previously scheduled to start Aug. 20.

The test began at the Fort Lee, Va., store July 10, allowing customers to order online, then pick up and pay for their groceries at the commissary curb. The Click2Go service is available at Fort Lee Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Through this test, officials have determined that the commissary’s handheld registers can’t process DeCA gift cards curbside, said Kevin Robinson, a spokesman for the Defense Commissary Agency.

To pay at curbside you can use Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit cards, and debit cards that do not require you to enter a PIN. Coupons are accepted at curbside. Customers who want to pay with cash, check or debit card requiring a PIN must enter the store to finalize the sale.

The test at Fort Lee will last for at least 12 months before it expands to more locations, as officials evaluate its popularity and operational effectiveness.
