COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — A former Air Force chaplain described by a judge as a “serial child molester” has been sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

The Gazette reports that David Alan Grosse learned his penalty Monday after a tearful apology in which he raised his voice to a piercing wail in asking for forgiveness.

He had pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

Grosse retired as a colonel in 1993 after 30 years of service. He was accused of inappropriately touching four girls.
