WEST POINT, N.Y. — The new class of cadets at the U.S. Military Academy is set to wrap up the first six weeks of basic training with a 12-mile march to West Point.
The Class of 2017 has been training in basic military skills since July 1.
The trek from nearby Camp Buckner is called “the March Back” and was to begin before dawn Monday as cadets formed up in tactical formation and headed over local roads to the West Point Golf Course bridge.
They were to be joined by graduates representing classes from 1945 to 2011 and are expected to pass in review at the superintendent’s residence early this afternoon.
