ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — An Anchorage police spokeswoman said the driver of a stolen pickup led officers on a chase through the city before finally crashing into a chain link fence at Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardson. City police and military police arrested the driver.
Spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said an Anchorage officer spotted the stolen truck in a parking lot Wednesday afternoon and parked behind it in an effort to box it in. However, the pickup driver pulled forward, then reversed, ramming the patrol car and driving off.
Castro said the officer was not hurt.
At one point the pickup ran over a spike strip as an Anchorage officer pursued it.
After ramming the military base fence, the driver fled on foot, but Castro said police quickly caught up to him. She said the driver and a female passenger suffered minor injuries.
