Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert announced the following flag assignments Thursday:
■ Rear Adm. David Gale, who has been selected for his second star, will be deputy commander for surface warfare, SEA-21, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C. Gale is serving as commander, Regional Maintenance Center, Norfolk, Va.
■ Rear Adm. Bret Batchelder will be commander, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, U.S. Transportation Command, Norfolk. Batchelder is serving as director, Operations Division, Office of Budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management and Comptroller/director, Operations Division, Fiscal Management Division, N821, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
■ Rear Adm. Kyle Cozad will be deputy director, Joint Force Coordination, J-3, Joint Staff, Norfolk. Cozad previously served as chief of naval operations strategic studies group fellow, Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group, Newport, R.I.
■ Reserve Rear Adm. Deborah Haven will be commander, Defense Contract Management Agency International, Fort Lee, Va. Haven previously served as commanding officer, Navy Reserve Logistics Support Unit, Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk.
■ Capt. William Galinis, who has been selected for his first star, will be commander, Regional Maintenance Center, Norfolk. Galinis is serving as commanding officer, Norfolk Ship Support Activity, Norfolk.
■ Capt. William Merz, who has been selected for his first star, will be assigned as commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego. Merz previously served as chief of staff, commander, submarine force, Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk.
