Commissaries will be back to their normal operating hours the week of Aug. 19, officials said.
The stores have been closed on Mondays since July 8 because of the sequester-induced DoD civilian furloughs of one day each week. Stores that were already closed on Mondays are closed on the next business day.
With Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s announcement that DoD civilians’ furlough days will be reduced from 11 to six, that means that the stores will return to their normal, pre-furlough operating schedules the week of Aug. 19.
The sixth and final furlough day for most stores will be Aug. 12.
