AUGUSTA, MAINE — A former Marine who was sentenced to four years in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed his sister and her boyfriend has pleaded not guilty to violating post-conviction bail conditions for allegedly taking drugs.

Travis Lawler appeared in court Monday via a video link from jail.

The Kennebec Journal reports that the judge revoked the 23-year-old Lawler’s bail.

Lawler, wearing his dress uniform, pleaded guilty to charges including manslaughter July 29 for the June 2012 crash in Belgrade while he was on leave. He was scheduled to begin his sentence Sept. 6.

Police say they responded to reports of a shoeless, shirtless man hitting cars and assaulting people in Fairfield last Wednesday. Police suspected Lawler was using drugs, either bath salts or spice, and arrested him Friday.
