ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — An Air Force spokesman says the case of a Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson airman found dead in his Anchorage apartment from a gunshot wound to the head is under investigation.

Staff. Sgt. William Banton said Monday that while there is no evidence of foul play in last Wednesday’s death of 24-year-old Senior Airman Lee Davis, it’s too soon to call the death a likely suicide.

The Anchorage Daily News reports that the air traffic controller from Cleveland, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The spokesman said the death wasn’t announced sooner because of difficulties in locating relatives.
