The Defense Department announced the following assignments July 18:

Brig. Gen. Scott A. Vander Hamm, who has been selected for the grade of major general, director, plans, programs, requirements and assessments, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, to commander, Eighth Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

Brig. Gen. John L. Dolan, commander, Kandahar Airfield, Headquarters International Security Assistance Force and commander, 451st Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Combat Command, Kandahar, Afghanistan, to director, plans, programs, requirements and assessments, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.
