White Sands-based soldier killed in Afghanistan

A soldier based at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., was killed July 4 when his unit was attacked in Farah province, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.

Pvt. Errol D.A. Milliard, 18, of Birmingham, Ala., died of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with a rocket propelled grenade while on dismounted patrol. He was assigned to the 2nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade.

Further information was not immediately available.
