JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, HAWAII — Hawaii-based destroyer USS Paul Hamilton is coming home after a nine-month deployment.

The guided-missile destroyer is scheduled to return to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Monday.

Navy Region Hawaii says the crew deployed in September and has been conducting a wide array of operations including counter-terrorism and combating transnational crime.

The deployment also included a port visit in Manila, where 24 Filipino-American sailors were able to spend time with their families and friends who live in the Philippines.

Paul Hamilton is one of 11 surface combatants assigned to Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific and Destroyer Squadron 31.
