FORT BLISS, TEXAS — A chaplain at a West Texas post has been sentenced to six months of confinement after pleading guilty to assault and battery on a female civilian.
Officials at Fort Bliss on Wednesday night announced the penalty for Maj. Geoffrey Alleyne, who’s been in the military for 24 years. Military investigators say the charges stem from a series of encounters last year between Alleyne and the civilian worker.
Alleyne pleaded guilty to assault and battery against a civilian employee on Fort Bliss, making a false official statement and conduct unbecoming an officer.
Fort Bliss Chaplain Lt. Col. Karen Meeker said the Chaplain Corps regrets the incident.
